Webinar Series on the Future of Agri-Food Research and Innovation
We invite you to join us for the 8th webinar in a series dedicated to the future of agri-food research and innovation.
The people challenge: Attracting talent and skilled labour in the agri-food sector
Agri-food research and innovation are becoming increasingly interdisciplinary as they leverage advances in data, robotics, and life sciences. Over time, farmers can be expected to gradually evolve into farm operators, a point made by RBC Thought Leadership in its 2019 report Farmer 4.0. In this environment, both producers and food processors will likely continue to compete with other sectors to attract highly skilled individuals to manage their operations and maintain their competitiveness. Meanwhile, university faculties will continue to be called upon to attract and produce top talent to ensure that Canadian research in agri-food maintains its leadership role.
Join us on December 9 from 1:00-2:30pm EST as we review the people challenge in the agri-food sector.
Panelists:
- Dr. Martin Scanlon, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, University of Manitoba
- Ryan Riese, National Director, Agriculture, Royal Bank of Canada
- Jennifer Wright, Acting Executive Director, Operations, Programs and Partnerships, Canadian Agricultural Human Resources Council (CAHRC)
