Webinar: Session with Mr. Richard Cannings, MP
Please join us as the Agri-Food Innovation Council (AIC) welcomes MP Richard Cannings, member of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food.
Mr. Cannings was elected in 2015 to the House of Commons and represents the British Columbia riding of South Okanagan—West Kootenay. He serves as the official critic of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Science and Research (December 2021 – present), and has recently been made the critic for Public Accounts and Agriculture. Prior to his involvement in politics, Mr. Cannings worked as a biologist specializing in birds and taught at the University of British Columbia for 17 years. As a biologist, he has spent time working to protect BC’s environment and wildlife. Mr. Cannings entered into politics to bring a scientific voice to the fight against climate change.
Mr. Cannings will discuss how the New Democratic Party sees agriculture and food research and innovation and what they propose to do if they form government after the next election.
Ahead of the next federal election, AIC is launching a series of webinars featuring parliamentarians of each major political party. On top of giving us insights into each party’s plans, the webinars will enable you to ask questions – moderated by AIC.
