Governor General Recognizes Exceptional Canadians in the Field of Agriculture and Agri-Food
AIC would like to sincerely congratulate Alfred E. Slinkard, C.M., Christian Barthomeuf, C.M., and John S. Eyking, C.M. for their appointment to the Order of Canada.
Alfred E. Slinkard, C.M. was appointed as an honourary member for his ground-breaking work in the field of agronomy, leading to the development of two cultivars of lentils which have had lasting impacts on agriculture in western Canada.
Christian Barthomeuf, C.M. was appointed as a member for having pioneered the development of ice cider and for developing a viticulture adapted to Quebec’s climate and respectful of agricultural biodiversity.
John S. Eyking, C.M. was appointed as a member for his dedication to the Cape Breton community, particularly within the agriculture industry.
AIC is delighted to see these exceptional Canadians receive one of our country’s highest civilian honours for their outstanding contribution in the field of agriculture and agri-food. Congratulations to the recipients!
